1881 Steam Fire Engine

This Silsby steam fire engine "Miss Daisy" was purchased in 1881 by the Friendship, New York fire department. It has been owned by them ever since!
It is shown here at the 2007 Fireman's Muster in Penn Yan New York. Beautiful Keuka Lake is the setting for Penn Yan's Fireman's Field

Wow!! What a stunning machine :)
Reminds me to get round to rebuilding my toy steam traction engine :)
Kato, I'de love to see Miss Daisey in action. (The steam engine, that is) ;-)
I live about 3/4 miles south of the center of Branchport, or about 1/2 a mile south of the edge of Branchport. :)

I do have access to a couple of pics with her running in Friendship. I'll see if I can get one uploaded on here. So RJ, where are you from now? You got the Angel part right, lol.
kato14709, I bet I know where you're from! It's nice to hear from a near-byer! How are you Angels down there?? I went to Alfred in '57 - '58.
yes they should be very proud of Miss Daisey! This was taken just yesterday, so Perhaps they have an alternative stack for when they fire it up, to save the nickel plated one. I wasn't there when they had it working :(
I live near Friendship and have seen this beauty run. It's an incredible piece of history that the community of Friendship can be proud of. You should hear her when she's running flat out pumping, just awesome. This pic is before their complete restoration of her. It has a nickel plated stack on it now.
