Doh!! Sorry seafox, my bad :D Where I lived as a teenager, near Silverstone Race Circuit, we used to get a free Red Arrows display every year at Grand Prix time. Much of the display occured in the fields in front of my house rather than over the circuit, for safety I guess, and it was awesome!! My dad and I used to stand and watch them, and as they fly by low over head we could see the pilots clear as day in the cockpits :)
JC, if you re-read my comment, you'll see that I have heard of them!
I just didn't know which branch of service they were from!
SeaFox, the Red Arrows are the from the RAF, I can't believe you've never heard of them! They are considered the best in the world and have flown all over the world.

Royal Air Force. I used to have a framed pic of them with all the pilots signatures. Going back donkeys years mind you, don't know what happened to it...
Blue Angels are Navy, Thunder Birds are Air Force! Which branch are the Red Arrows?
I've heard of them BTW!
Very sad news. I don't know anything about the blue angels but I guess they are like our, uk, Red Arrows.

When I was younger, I was in the 7th grade when the Thunderbirds were here, and they would practice their routine days before the show. We lived a mile from the airport, and I remember they were out practicing, so I got on the roof to watch, and one plane flew upside down right by the house! He was so close, I could see the pilot, and I saw him turn his head at the last second, and look at me! He MUST have seen me on the roof, because after that, all the planes stopped flying over the sub-division, and moved toward the North to continue flying! It was so cool! :)
