SUIdiot,

I'm not sure that just "anyone" would do that, but a mouthy little cock sucker, such as yourself, frequently tries to pass off bull shit as something of greater value.

2007-06-11 09:28:40 EST

Zo, that's not pepper SUIdiot is putting out, it's pulverized bull shit that just looks like pepper.

2007-06-11 03:55:27 EST

well, Vis45, what would the gain be to dudes who scroll the many many pics of chicks with tits and dimples? We all do...some of us while "working" at the office, some of us after Work..others just to do something other than watch t.v. and some because they are wealthy, retired, or just plain bored, SUI actually contributes more pepper to these posts, than the perv-trolls we get with their spamlike lvt29 sex comments ;-)

2007-06-07 13:54:13 EST

SUI, the only reason I went off on a tangent with the Battle of Britain was because it was one of the points made to prove to Mayo that we weren't a crumbling cowering nation at the mercy of Hitler, that we were actually holding our own and not doing too bad considering. We seem to agree that it was a combined effort that defeated Hitler, however Mayo is convinced that he did it on his own from what I can gather.

2007-06-07 11:59:12 EST

The topic is the pathetic claims that 'if it wasn't for the US you'd all be speaking German' and 'we saved your euro ass'. Give it another 50 years and I'm sure it'll be 'England had to be liberated'.

2007-06-07 11:14:49 EST

That's right, Zeus. All the RAF planes in the Battle of Britain were - surprise - British! They were: Supermarine Spitfires, Hawker Hurricanes, Defiants and Blenheims. No more, no less. Pilots were Brits, Canadians, Poles, Czechs, South Africans, Aussies and New Zealanders. Question for shutupidiot - when was the Battle of Britain?

2007-06-07 11:00:09 EST

Shutupidiot, you state the list of planes "P-38's,39's,40's,47's,51's, B-17 and 24's, Corsairs and Helcats; all U.S. made and in the RAF. Granted they made the Spitfire and Hurricane, but those were later planes". I'm baffled by this. The Battle of Britain memorial flight is a Spitfire (made in Castle Brom, UK), the Hurricane (made in Kingston, UK and Gloucester, UK) and the Avro Lancaster (made in Manchester UK and Halifax UK)...... If it was all US planes that won the Battle of Britain, how did they get the memorial flight so wrong???? Amazing...

2007-06-07 09:42:36 EST

In my last post, there was no intention to imply that the US single-handedly won WWII, it was very much a group effort but it was certainly far from a victory when FDR convinced congress to get into the war in Europe in spite of public opinion. You might want to read what Winston Churchill said when he was told about the US declaration of war against Germany.

I'm pretty sure that West Point teaches US Army Officers to determine what side the Brits are on and then get our troops on the same damn side before they can fire a shot. I believe that's taught in Principals Of War #101.

2007-06-07 09:07:26 EST

I disagree because cheese. :)

2007-06-07 08:42:59 EST

For the last time!! Can we agree? D-Day was a combined effort of the brave soldiers and airmen of many countries. All played a part, all made scarifices. Thanks and remembrance should go to all, regardless of nationality, without any sense of superiority.

2007-06-07 08:25:49 EST

With a few exceptions, this whole thread has been an exercise in poor taste. Way to fuck up d-day, zombie.

2007-06-07 07:53:37 EST

the battle of britain was not much more than an air war which resulted in nothing much more than casualties for both sides .

2007-06-07 07:03:26 EST

lucky, it was completely a combined effort. Alot of energy was placed on logistical planning. So much, in factthat d-day could have been a few years sooner and the war over. But, then again hindsight is 20/20.

2007-06-07 06:52:29 EST

Sutupidiot - Now I think it is you who is getting the credibility problem. You seem to think the USA won the war alone and cant bear the thought that anyone else played a part in it. As I said check your facts. Too many Spielberg movies for you! Suggest you take a popcorn break.

2007-06-07 06:37:54 EST

How true Zomatra - a combined effort! As for shutupidiot - Hurricanes were operating in the late 1930's and Spitfires were up by early 1940. We flew mainly Wellingtons, Lancasters, Beauforts, Avros etc etc. Go see Ahttp://www.battle-fleet.com/pw/his/raflist.htm for the full list of what the RAF actually flew. Also I didn't label the US as a whole, far from it. I actually salute the bravery of US soldiers - or is that too general for you? Check your facts and read what people acutally say please.

2007-06-07 06:33:15 EST

yes to meet up with us army rangers at 3:03 luckyman .

2007-06-07 05:59:06 EST

For Firahun: "At 0430 (H minus 2 hours) detachments of the 4th and 24th Cavalry Squadrons under Lt. Col. E. C. Dunn landed on the Iles St. Marcouf to capture what was suspected to be a hostile observation post or casemate for mine-field control. Prior to the landing four men armed only with knives swam to what was supposedly an enemy-held shore to mark the beaches."

However British paras had landed behind enemy lines by glider at 0300. See http://www.warchronicle.com/dday/contents.htm

2007-06-07 05:00:58 EST

Even japanese soldiers fought among the allies. Germans were scared from them like shit, little japs swinging samurai swords in the trenches. Deadlier than a machinegun in close combat thats for sure.

Oh and a question: Do you know wich nations soldiers landed first on D-day?

2007-06-07 04:48:08 EST

LOL shutupidiot cracks me up again, but yes luckyman is also right it took pretty much the whole free world and their brave soldiers to repel Germany...man-for-man the Germans almost even won too..

2007-06-07 02:17:19 EST

So shutupidiot says UK planes were made in the US - some - later in the war. Most were made by UK companies such as Avro and Rolls Royce. He fails to add that the US was also selling steel to Nazi armaments companies right up to the end of 1941, courtesy of Prescott Bush. American steel was helping the Germans against British troops right up to the evacuation of Dunkirk.

By the end of 1940 Germany had completely abandoned plans to invade the UK, and in fact Rudoph Hess, Hitler's deputy, was parachuted into England to sue for peace. Germany had suffered too many losses in the air during the Battle of Britain, after which Hitler downgraded German fighter production in favour of tanks. Insufficient air cover was the key factor in their being unable to repel the allied invasion of France as well as being unable to support German troops on the Eastern front. Hitler was still building Tiger tanks when he should have been making Messerschmitts.

Yes a great debt is owed to the brave Americans who gave their lives to liberate Europe West - as it is to Canadians, Brits, Australians, South Africans, New Zealanders, West Indians, Poles, Czechs and the French Resistance. Nobody could have succeeded alone. This is not an occasion to trump up one's patriotic jingoism.

2007-06-07 01:23:06 EST

USSfuzzbuster, how is radical Islam trying to take over England??? 96% of the UK population is still white Anglo Saxon. We have minorities who have populated certain areas, as they want to live with people of similar culture and religion, but we are not being 'invaded'. We do have some problems that need to be addressed and they will be as a resurgence of English Pride and Nationalism is starting to occur.

2007-06-07 01:19:37 EST

Guys, you are all missing a huge section of the war. Hitler had already commenced his attack on Britain. Does the US teach anything of the Battle of Britain in your schools???? He had to take out the RAF before an invasion fleet could sail, but was unable to do so. For those of you who obviously haven't seen the film, it was in 1940 and the Luftwaffe couldn't break the RAF or the British spirit. In May 1941 the Germans moved their bombers away from the West to the East to attack Russia as the B.O.B. was considered lost. From wikipedia, "The failure of Nazi Germany to destroy Britain's air force, or to break the spirit of the British government or people, is considered the Third Reich's first major defeat. Some historians have argued no invasion could have succeeded; given the massive superiority of the Royal Navy over the Kriegsmarine, Sealion would have been a disaster".WE WON THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN!! FACT! We broke the German army in North Africa with our 8th Army at El Alamein, FACT. We had stopped the advance in the East along the India Burma border, FACT. So please, shut the fuck up about how you won the war for us all. Again, while British, Commonwealth and Russian troops were fighting and dying in the name of freedom, the US was profiteering, FACT. You helped, we appreciate you turning up (certainly quicker than your WW1 performance) but YOU DID NOT WIN THE WAR ALONE!!!

2007-06-06 23:04:05 EST

contd. -

The challenge to the world today is the spread of radical Islamic rule by terrorism and infiltration of peaceful countries. It's ironic that their first target is the take over of England while pretending the goal to be the distruction of Israel.

2007-06-06 23:02:47 EST

SUI, You do get a gold star for touching on one of the key points that eventually determined the outcome of WWII, that being, "Had he not moved on Russia as soon as he did." Hitler's own General Staff had advised him to delay any move against Russia until the fall of England was accomplished. Japan making a surprise attack against Pearl Harbour, with Hitler's blessings, was intended to force the US to defend Hawaii, the Philipines, and the mainland West coast, taking away the war materials supply line to England. The Third Reich was very aware that public sentiment in the US was almost 70% against US involvement in a European war and depended on this "fortress America" attitude to give him freedom to take charge of what little was left of Europe. Not in Hitler's wildest dreams did he think the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour would bring a declaration of war against Germany. Had these two events, the attack on Pearl Harbour and the attack on Russia, been delayed until after the fall of England, today's world would be greatly different. All of Europe, including England would be the Republic Of Germany and all of Asia including Mongolia and Siberia would be the Imperial Federation Of Japan, and the rest of the world would have been divided up as slave states to one of these two super powers, including the totally isolated US. President Roosevelt and PM Churchill had the vision to take advantage of these two tactical blunders by making a drive into Europe while keeping Japan at bay with what was left of the US Navy's Pacific Fleet. The thousand year rule of the Third Riech was close to becoming a reality.

2007-06-06 16:44:30 EST

mayo, you are not only ignorant but insulting. No you didn't save Britain, no we wouldn't be speaking German and no we aren't controlled by Germany in the US of Europe *yawn*, but yes you are an annoying twit....

2007-06-06 16:33:14 EST

I think Mayo must be one of the most ill-informed lunatics on Snaps - or else a genius provocateur-comediene. Oooooh - 'It wasn't our war' - straight out of a Carry-on Comedy!! The rants are satire - aren't they? PS you - were also late for WW1.

2007-06-06 16:11:13 EST

Putin and Russia wont attack Europe. Of course not! They would loose one of their biggest oil-customer!

And respect for those who took their part in the "Great crusade".

2007-06-06 14:35:32 EST

Iraq wasn't Britain's war. but we ended up helping you create another Vietnam, what can you say if it wasn't for America we'd be speaking Iraqi. Point is this war sucks and the other World Wars were truly for freedom and not oil.

2007-06-06 12:49:42 EST

we're getting into another one now...breaking news...Bush says, Putin and Russia won't attack Europe, and Turkey just invaded north IraQ

2007-06-06 12:45:51 EST

I did not say that America won the war single-handedly. I merely said that Britain could not have won the war without us. As for our coming into the war late, so what? It wasn't our war. Germany had not attacked us. The bombing of Pearl Harbor is what got us involved. Had it not been for that, you would probably be speaking German, today.

Our entire country was then mobilized. We did not have much of an air force or navy until we got involved... then we had to build the planes and the ships. It caught us off guard. We fought withour proper materiel for a year before we won the first battle. All of this to save someone else's arse. All because your people preferred the soothing utterings of Chamberlain instead of Churchill.

Now look at where you are. Entangled in a German controlled conglomerate called the EU. The United States of Europe, or whatever it will eventually be called, is nothing more than a scam perpetrated on Europe and the British people by Germany. The whole damn war was for naught. Some people never learn. Prepare for Holy Roman Empire VIII.

2007-06-06 11:55:24 EST

they all did, on both sides, war sucks, peace sells, but then again who's buying.

2007-06-06 11:06:35 EST

Thanks for that luckyman, interesting stats. Its strange how things get changed. The Gallipoli campaign is always remembered as an Australian Battle with just some mad British Generals, but the casualties, killed and injured were Brits - 205k, French - 47k and ANZAC - 33.5k. Not knocking the sacrifices made by anyone, but Hollywood has a lot to answer for where history is concerned..

2007-06-06 10:59:59 EST

On the day the invaders were 83,000 British, 72,000 American and the rest Canadian and Commonwealth. In terms of percentages, the Canadians took the heaviest causalites. An excellent link - http://www.warchronicle.com/dday/contents.htm

And thank them all - of every nationality.

2007-06-06 10:40:04 EST

and bless you Leonard Theo Watts, my dad was almost 1 year older than you and you all, from all over the world helped make the world safer, you are not eurotrash, you all fought to clean europe out.

2007-06-06 10:20:44 EST

Amazing to think of a 21yr old going through that. Cheers oddo. My Great Uncle died at Walcheren, Holland in '44 in an attempt to open the Port of Antwerp. He was on LCF37 and is buried in Bergen-op-zoom war cemetery.

From "The Campaign in North-West Europe June 1944-1945", HMSO, 1994, page 49 – "The Support Squadron had also opened fire but though all its craft were being straddled or near-missed by batteries W 11, W 15 and W 17, it was not till 0920 that the first serious hit was registered when L.C.F. 37 was severely damaged forward by an enemy shell and eventually blew up. Shortly after this the southern group also came under heavy and accurate fire south of the 'kidney' shoal, but though severely hit pressed home their attack with unrelenting vigour. At 0934 L.C.T.(R) 334 fired her ranging rocket salvos which fell short. Then she was hit twice on her starboard side forward. By a stroke of ill fortune this caused her to swing towards the north and accidentally let go some of her rockets which fell close to L.C.H.269. Unhappily rockets fired by L.C.T.(R) 457 and L.C.T.(R) 378 also fell near three of the supporting craft and on the port beam of the L.C.I.(S)’s taking the Commando ashore. The L.C.I.’s. at once turned away but resumed their course towards the shore at increased speed ten minutes later. Casualties in two of the three supporting craft were thirty slightly wounded but the other, though completely blotted out by the smoke of the exploding rockets, fortunately suffered none. L.C.T.(R) 334 quickly resumed her firing course and with L.C.T.(R) 363 pressed on her attack with the utmost determination although heavily hit."

"There can be no doubt that the Squadron's outstanding gallantry had done much to make the seaborne landing possible and by 1230 the three Commandos were well established ashore."

2007-06-06 08:43:01 EST

Agreed luckyman, and mayo seems to have gone to the library.... ;-)

2007-06-06 08:33:49 EST

I knew someone would bring up Prescott Bush selling steel to the Nazi armaments companies right up to 1941. But that's for a different discussion. Today just remember all those who gave their lives on the beaches of France so that we have the freedom to piddle about on Snaps without the SS knocking at our doors.

2007-06-06 08:25:07 EST

As the late great American author Kurt Vonnegut said, Dookie, as soon as you start to use obscenities, you give the other person the best excuse not to take you seriousy.

Roosevelt was a great President and WW2 was a moral war. What I said is that I dont like people claiming that victory was due to one country alone. They are the ones who demean the sacrifice of millions to make a cheap and moronic point.

2007-06-06 08:22:18 EST

dookie, I agree that this shouldn't be a political post, out of respect for those who served, but mayo joins the ranks of those who believe Hollywood History and needs to shut the fuck up. BTW, most Brits don't like being called European. ;-)

2007-06-06 08:18:58 EST

How the fuck do you work out we were losing fast?? We had won the Battle of Britain, Rommel was in retreat in North Africa after being smashed by Britain's 8th Army in 1942 and we had stopped the Jap advance in the East!! France had plans to annex our navy????? WTF???? We had sunk most of the French navy at Oran for not surrendering the fleet to us!! Get a history book and stop watching the films. Answer me this, if the Japs hadn't bombed Pearl Harbour, would the US have stopped selling steel to Germany and joined the war??? I don't think so. We fought for years with the Commonwealth before you lot decided to join in and it was a over a year before D Day that the Russians had broken the Germans in Europe. America helped, nothing more, nothing less but STFU about you winning the war....

2007-06-06 08:16:34 EST

I'm glad you posted this, Zombie, this may be the dumbest thing you've ever posted. Though Mayo's exclusion of Great Britain from Europe puts you in good company.

You guys could collect disability for mental retardation. Fucking beautiful.

You idiots should pay attention. This was a good president sending to a righteous war. WWII was not a war of convenience to satiate the military industrial complex, led into by a liar, like Iraq. You guys should be ashamed for trying to politicize WWII. Douchebags.

2007-06-06 08:09:00 EST

Yes, Mayo, some of your grandparents helped to save our arse. You seem to think this was a commercial transaction not a moral obligation. Should the Brits charge you for helping out in Iraq? As for the profits, we only finished paying off the interest on war aid from the US in 2006. What I object to is the view that only the US won the war. In fact both the defeat of Germany and Japan depended on the efforts of many nations. None, not even the US, could have done the job alone.

2007-06-06 07:35:43 EST

Britons ARE NOT Europeans so don't get your knickers in a knot over Europeans being called "Eurotrash". England may be a member of the EU at the present time but not for much longer.

Are you saying that England could have won the war without America's intervention? You were losing fast. America and France had plans for annexing the Royal Navy before all was lost. In effect, WE saved YOUR ass.... like it or not. As for "obscene profits", what is your collective ass worth?

2007-06-06 07:12:27 EST

My old dad was on the first day of the D-Day landings and fought in the vanguard all the way to Berlin. He has the shrapnel scars to prove it. But he's British and liberal. Is he Eurotrash too? What he remembers is that the Americans didn't even join the fight until 1942 and then made an obsecene profit charging the Brits for 'aid'. True, many brave Americans died, along with the French, Brits, Poles, Czechs, and Commonwealth troops on D-Day. What do you think D-Day was - a day out for American conservatives?

2007-06-06 05:00:09 EST

..... and from another American.

2007-06-06 04:53:25 EST

:) w/luv from....you guessed it AMERICA!
