It was, snap. Mormon temple just down the road, Marine Corp air station to the right of this picture and Scholfield Barracks to the left. There was, however, an un-paved section beyond the Army barracks, that connected the two sides of Oahu that ran for about a mile or two. Very bad road...probably hotels now. Hawaiian land developers were really trying to take back the hill Trippler Army Hospital sat on and they had their eye on Barber's Point Naval Air Station also. Don't know how things turned out...guess I could look it up.
Looks like your in front of whats now sea life park. thanks for sharing goodgrief. out of curiosity was the road to this place paved in 64
I read somewhere that between the ages of 55 and 70 the male will lose approximately 23% of his penis. WHAT? Does that mean it will only be good for leaving a leak? Does it mean some men will be in the minus column? Good Grief?
haha... they played as shit as the Redmen... nothing to boast about there from either squad.
Cocksman was a term my grandfather used. He used it to describe this guy he chummed with in the war or the quarterback of his high school football team. Today they're called 'players' which has little to be desired! It's just not as dignified.
Sounds like you've had quite a life goodgrief and I'm sure you have an arsenal of great stories that would have all of our ears standing on end :) Might have to get you liquored to hear the good ones though!
I got pretty shot up in Viet Nam and the Navy let me spend my last 1 1/2 years there; I was in a sea-bee battalion (C/B). I got into model planes, motorcycles, and ladies my age. I got drunk a lot also. There's a lot of Mormon girls in Hawaii and they are hot, hot, hot! Sundin, you flatter me, I don't mind, and I"m old and get to die first. It was a great ride! Haven't heard that term (cocksman) in years...made me laugh. I've seen your picture, my man; you're probably beathing them off with a stick yourself!
Badass MF. With that hair and that bike, you must've been quite the cocksman in your day. I'd be estatic to have a polynesian diet!
Well it belonged to a friend and we'd swap bikes from time to time. I'm pretty sure it was a 63 or 64 Bonneville Twin. I owned a 63 305 Honda scrambler that I'd modified to 400cc, heavy-duty lifters, dome-top pistons, and a 13 to 44 tooth gear ratio. Another great dirt bike and later raced it here in the states.
A 500 Bonneville? your memory isn't quite what it was. Nice bike though, bet it sounded fit with those pipes!
Thanks guys. That's rabbit island in the background and probably there's hotels where I'm sitting today. That's a Bonneville 500 twin..good machine in the dirt. Could not get the photo to look any better...very old. I'll never forget that time in my life...good memories.

Forgot to mention..Just to the right, a few miles, was the famous Makaha beach. Surfing chamionships are held there, I think in November. 40 foot waves! Treacherous and un-forgiving they were. Damn near lost my life there...surf board beat me back to the beach. Never have seen an undertow so strong. Couple of good sucks and you're history.
