My Brother shows off his trolley

The trolley (tram) is not a rebuild, but was built from scratch. It is constructed of aluminum, and should last a long time.
It is nearly complete, but needs seats. It was used as a stage for musical groups during the "Trolley Town Festival".

That's great news RJ, I'm pleased it has found a good use :)
The trolley was in the 4th of July parade, 2008.
It is now at "Hunt Country Vineyards", a winery, and will be used for vineyard tours, parades, etc.

RJ, it would seem your family as a whole seems to have a gift for engineering of all kinds.
Yeah, Video games develop hand - eye coordination, but I can't think of anything else!
My big bro was designing and building radios and mechanical things like a motor scooter and power lawn mower when he was in high school.
nice trolley, your brother seems to be pretty handy and crafty, but then again you guys didn't have video games back then so I guess you just got naturally creative. cool snap.
JC - The only place I know of near here that presently uses trolleys is Toronto. As a kid I saw them in Buffalo and Washington DC, but they are gone now.
This trolley may be used for excursions on a scenic trail along an old railroad bed (no tracks) which follows the 7 mile long Keuka Lake Outlet through a twisty ravine.
Vis45, Yes, my Brother is getting some press time! There was a photo in our local paper a couple of weeks ago, and I took this picture and a couple others for a follow up story in the paper.
I think adding road wheels is always the compromise on rebuilding a tram, very few places will have the tracks still available. Interestingly in the last decade trams have become popular in some towns and cities in the UK and great investment has been made in new tracks and trams. Blackpool is about the only place I know of in the UK to still have it's original tram system and many of original trams, as well as trams from other no longer existing tram systems in the uk.
Thanks JC - I'll be sure to tell him!
He loves history and loves to build things, so this has been a great project for him. He did a lot of research, studying and measuring old photos, so the result is quite a faithful replica, except it has wheels designed for roads instead of tracks.
Be sure to tell your brother that his tram is awesome! This will no doubt be the pride of the town for a long time to come :)
