My Old Tools

Before the days of electric power tools this brace & bit, made by Stanley Tool Works about 1932, was the only way to bore holes in wood.
The first adjustable wrench, made in 1925 by The Bolin Tool Company, was called a monkey wrench.

Iv'e seen that show! He's good!
Did you ever see "The Woodwrights Shop"!? Sometimes that guy make the tools, then the project!
It's the "Yankee Workshop" usually on PBS. That guy is an 'artist' with hand tools. Still today, all around the world, amazing things are made by hand. I see these crafts and say "How in the world did they do that?" I've seen 'knee drills' and 'chest drills' also, sugar daddy. They've softened 'plates' for one to lean into the work and force the bit into it. My brace & bit have mounds of dust on them but I just can't throw them away knowing I'll never use them again.

Don't know that show. The American Indian created from scratch the most wonderous art work in many forms. They started with the thought, their hands and the land. Glad to have electric tools and a blueprint today.
