He's probably heard about 'Da mad hippy who live wit many cat in lane' and thought it would be an easy sale. So is he still down your well?
This last one, just before I made my post, was Polish. Or at least that's what it said on his piece of card he had his sales speak written on.
I don't really mind them trying to make a few extra pounds, but I don't think door to door sales works in the UK because we can so easily buy whatever we need these days.
Are you sure they're polish and not scroaty albanian kids? The polish seem to be pretty hard workers!
You know the biggest problem with the influx of european workers to the UK is that I keep getting Polish kids knocking on my door trying to sell me drawing they claim to have done that are clearly just prints!?!?!
Still it's an improvement from the local gypsy lady cursing me for not buying her clothes pegs she just bought from the supermarket :/
Agreed frostek, I'm anti all scroats and scroungers. I've adopted a new phrase, England, love it or leave it! That applies to everyone who doesn't want to respect England, her people (regardless of religion or colour) and anyone who doesn't try and add value. We need to stop the scroungers, including English ones, and put English Pride back as number one priority. The left wingers that have wrecked our country by making everyone to scared to speak up for fear of being labeled have started to create an opposite. I don't care what colour, religion, social background someones from. I pay over £1500 per month in tax, ni and csa and genuinely don't mind supporting those who really deserve it. I don't see why I should pay for 'economic migrants' and toe rags...
Come on Zeus - there's another side of the story which you've not mentioned. My girlfriend works damn hard paying taxes which help support the lazy English people on the dole, but if she loses her job she won't get a penny to live on from the government. How's that fair?
Doesn't work like that over here Haya, they can step of the boat, or out of the container they hid in to sneak into our country and get benefits immediately. Then all the other bullshit starts, like the county of Kent being told that no council workers could have a pay rise because of all the increase benefit payments, but Council tax (regional taxes) would go up to help fund them. I used to live in Romford, Essex and no one was allowed to fly the St George flag or Union Jack in case it offended all the immigrants. If they're offended, they can bugger off back home......
Sinky - No, I think you just got some bad ones. Drunk driving in Poland is looked down upon far more than in the UK, and the police there are really pretty tough on drunk drivers.
If we have a shortage of plumbers and other trades why the hell done we train up English people to do them instead of always being lazy and pushing them in to the holy grail that is I.T.?
The own i am from and the one i have move to are both over run with immigrants while some may indeed be skilled and hard workers its onl the scrounges that you see sat in town all day with the fancy gear bought with the free money this soft country throws at poeple no matter how long you have lived here
Sinky, quite agree with you, drink drivings tolerated in so many places, even if illegal.
haya, did you say you were in Italy? If so, where abouts??
I work beside 4 Polish people nightshift at Tesco, two girls and two guys. They are friendly enough but wouldn't say they are hard workers. Maybe we have just be landed with a right lazy bunch of sods as they try to do as little as possible and one takes 8-10 bathroom breaks in one 8-hour shift!
One of the girls turned up at our Christmas night out and felt it was OK to get totally hamered and drive around 10 miles from the pub back to her flat!
Apparently it is acceptable to do this in Poland but if they are here in the UK they should stick to our rules. If I had been at the pub that night she would have had the police on her ass as soon as she left the place!
Not really. All the ones who work around here work at the steel works. Very good money. Also the UK has a shortage of plumbers, and therefore can earn a very high annual wage. Loads of Polish plumbers have come over. Now thats a good thing because the quality of work is exceptional in most cases. Also a lot of furn companies have taken on Polish workers, again good money.
We don't seem to have too many Hungarians over here tjp. There's currently over 100 poles living within a couple of streets of me, all hard workers and very friendly, don't have a problem with them. The UK needs to control the numbers....
and why would anyone leave Hungary to come to the UK???? ;-)
I thought you meant Romania and Bulgaria were a good place to live. As soon as any of these countries joins the EU, we get flooded by them. Now the Poles are very hard workers, and often skilled, but we need restrictions on the immigration to the UK. Our government has introduced restrictions for these countries, but our borders are so porous now its laughable....
Excellent! If its a good place to live, then they can stay there then.... Job Done!
