Street Kids Searching For Food

bellyfull has a point. These kids are clearly quite wealthy but would sooner spend money on 'pimping their rides' rather than food! They should be ashamed of themselves. ;)

I've seen pictures of kids and adults searching trash heaps for scraps of food. This picture doesn't do the plight of the truly destitute of the world justice.

Sorry to keep being cynical about this, but if they are truly starving children in a poverty-stricken country, what's with the the vehicles?

Should I be concerned that the street children appear to have more weight on them than my older daughter?? Poverty around the world is incredibly sad, especially when it involves children. Unfortunately, the Christian Children's Fund never sent us any info on sponsoring a child... I suppose I'll try again once we are in the new house. It's nearly impossible to give money away when you don't use credit cards.

I was merely alluding to the situation of over-population. Most parents are responsible, in generalities, but some are not. Sex comes first, children are the result. And then the income can't handle them so society suffers. This picture has no explanation. Maybe these kids have really good parents and are just having a snack. As for not being fully dressed...it's raining out...kids do this.

....and i'd suggest even after that, to be honest! :D

dunno about this pic, but surely things like hungry street childrens are sadly a reality all around the world. this picture could well represent such a situation. what is missing in here is the exact message for the people to digress about, but hey; we still have hermie making a further fool of himself and bellyfull crucifying him on the successive comment! ;-)

Nearly 16 years she's put up with her daughter moaning and arguing all the time. Thanks for the advice ramsey, I'll let her know right away :)

The real problem is that people jump pell mell into sex, get their rocks off, and then turn their offspring loose on the street to fend for themselves. What kind of responsibility is that? Houston is full of children taking care of their younger siblings cause momma keeps pumping out a new one every nine months. The basic thinking process has run amuck.

I would like to know the origin of this picture before concluding these kids are searching for food

I read an article several weeks ago that had a small 3x3 version of this picture and the jist of it was about the world food shortage and about Southeast Asian orphans, most abandoned by their parents, that spent their days scavenging for food in the larger cities.

In this larger picture, downloaded and zoomed up, it appears to me the boy is holding a coconut.

It is very sad that any children must do this to survive.

I see nothing in this picture that would suggest these two kids are searching for food. Indeed, I wonder about the propriety of posting photos of minor children like this.

How do you know, heather? The boy looks like he's holding a melon-type food; if that were the case they'd be eating it. Either that then it's a ball, and they wouldn't be playing with a ball if they were searching for food. But it's a cool photo.
