I was just over two months old when Orson Wells did his famous Halloween Eve radio broadcast of "The War of the Worlds". He made it sound like actual news reports, breaking into "regular programing" with several increasingly dire "news reports".

Many people missed or ignored Orson's introduction, believed the fake reports, and panicked! They packed the roads, hid in cellars, loaded guns, even wrapped their heads in wet towels as protection from Martian poison gas in an attempt to defend themselves against the aliens!

But I slept through it all!
