oh man, the men's and women's BMX was AWESOME! There were people wiping out left and right, it was incredible!

I saw that on Wikipedia.... I wish they'd show some of these cool sports, instead of just swimming and gymnastics all the time!

They've added BMX bike racing this year giving ALL entries a chance. No 'high-dollar income to keep your child in training. Kid from the back woods can compete. Doesn't matter where you live, how tall, slim, heavy, gender or anything. Heats are 45 seconds...moves right along.

goodgrief, i had forgotten about sidestroke. i did hear they want to cut out the baseball and add skateboarding. i love the beach volleyball. watched trampoline last night - how stupid is that event!

I was always best at sidestroke and watched those events the most. Whatever happened to that? Now I see softball and baseball are being done for the last time this year. Personally, I'd trash the beach volleyball. Another note...If one lives in one country, and is a citizen of that country, his representation shouldn't be allowed for another. Those are just my thoughts.

My country is having the worst Olympics ever. We dont even have a gold! We always won about 6-10 golds! Hungary sucks this year. :(

the first photo - cavic, head up, feet raised, gliding to the water at what speed and for how long? phelps, perfect head and body form, power stroking toward the wall.

i've seen the continuation of these photos. if that website were being honest, it would post ALL underwater photos in sequence - phelps touched that wall first

this was quite an epic finish. I have to say though, the favorite thing I've seen so far has been Togo getting bronze in white-water kayaking. It was the first Olympic medal for Togo ever. A German athlete that had done the course a few rounds before the Togo athlete and had the top time (i.e. a Gold Medal) was even cheering him on passionately. It was pretty great.

i suppose phelps and cavic could have earned gold medals, but it is what it is.

i'm surprised by the trash-talking from these swimmers. it is never a good idea to fuel certain athletes by running your mouth.. :)

Both of them should get a gold...how about that? Always great to see how this competition brings out the best in people and makes them go the extra mile and strain themselves for that one extra inch to win.

Those little girls are just so pitiful when they faulter and know they've blown it. They go to their seat crying and I feel for them. My daughters swam competition and in one backstroke final I watched my oldest girl slow up and let another take first place. I asked her why and she told me that the other girl hadn't won any ribbons that day. I was so proud of her for showing love for another that winning just didn't matter anymore.

We watched it many times in slow mo. Many angles. It was legit. Even if Cavic took another stroke like Phelps, he still would have been second.

i'm pretty sure phelps is 2/3 serbian so i don't see what the big deal is ;P

and if it wasn't for the lying chinese girls gymnastics team, those LIARS!!, we would have won gold there as well!!

cavic was gliding and phelps just propelled himself forward, bringing his arms to the wall. i hate to say it, i have watched this footage over and over.. we have a winner. ;)
